These lakeside maternity photos turned out to be exactly what my client Brooke wanted. Are you looking for unique maternity photos? When choosing a location for your maternity photos it’s always a good idea to get clear on your vision and discuss that with your maternity photographer.
For my client, her family has close ties with Belews Creek in North Carolina. Her family has a home there and her husband spent time growing up in the same area.
The dress my client chose to wear was a versatile maxi dress from Baltic Born. The soft dusty rose color paired perfectly with her hair and makeup. If you’re struggling with picking out the perfect maternity dress to wear for your maternity photos, here are some helpful tips for deciding what to wear.
Brooke booked the maternity + year one package, which captures maternity, newborn, 6-month, and 12-month milestones. So, in a few short weeks, we will be taking newborn photos of her sweet little girl, Lola Wrenn!
Brooke also let me play around with some florals in her maternity photos. I made a trip to Trader Joe’s and scooped up several different types of flowers and made a custom bouquet for her to use. The outcome was more than I hoped for! I’m so glad we took this creative vision and ran with it! The flowers added a feminine touch and made the overall look more unique and special. If you have a vision of what you want your maternity photos to look like, it’s always best to discuss those ideas beforehand to make sure we accomplish all that you’re hoping for in your maternity photos.
With some hesitance, Brooke also went barefoot in these photos. She wasn’t quite comfortable with it at the time, but she trusted my vision and went for it and took off her shoes – and I’m so glad she did!
Looking back as a parent to a two-year-old boy now, it’s hard to imagine how time has passed so quickly. The many milestones your children experience are certainly worth capturing. You’ll look back on these photos fondly with your family and smile because they make you feel something…joy.
